Dear High Representative, Mr. Schmidt,
Thank you for visiting the city of Banja Luka!, my birth place, the birth place of my parents and my great- grandparents. I am sure that young mayor of Banja Luka, Stanivukovic, and many more who came to my city after the expulsion of Croats and Bosniaks has no such deep roots in this beautiful city.
Let me start a brief introduction to the Banja Luka and political climate of the entity Republic of Srpska with your statement :
“It is encouraging to see the younger generation entering the political arena and assuming responsibility for their future,”
Your enthysiasm unfortunately do not correspond with grim reality for remaining Croats and Bosniaks living in the Banja Luka and the entity “Republic of Srpska.” For that matter, ( We can conclude from the interview Mr. Stanivukovic gave to the media after meeting with you) your excellency, for the young mayor Stanivukovic who is one of Serb politicians from the “younger generation”, you are not the High Representative. You are simply ” private citizen Schmidt” , as well as you are for his “opponent” Mr. Dodik; or at the most – you are for him – what you are for Mr. Vucic, and head of the Serb Orthodox Churc, patrijarh Porfirije. You can see that Mr. Stanivukovic valjuate opinion of the president of the other state- Republic of Serbia, Mr. Vucic, who volunteered in the aggression on the Republic Bosnia and Herzegovina, and who became well known by his statement, that he will kill 100 Bosniaks for one Serb. In the interview given to the media ( Just after Mr. Stanivokovic had the meeting with you) he also stated that he is against transferring the state authorities, usurpated by the General Assembly of the entity Republic of Srpska, to the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina. He do not recognize souveregnity of the state of the Bosnia and Herzegivina over the entity Republic of Srpska, regarding the state property.
The young Serbian politician Mr. Stanivukovic – “a fresh breeze ” among Serb politician is fervently against implementaton of the Genocide Denial Law. He keeps glorifying Serb Second War faschists – Chetnicks – whose main activities during Nazist’s ocuppation of Yugoslavia was mass murdering of Bosniak-Muslim civilians. Furthermore, he glorifies war criminals, from the Army of Republic of Srpska and political establishment ot the Entity Republic of Srpska; among them general Mladic and first president of the RS Karadzic. Also, Mr. Stavikuvic plans to build a Memrial Center in the Banja Luka for fallen soldiers of the murderous Army of RS, who kept the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sarajevo undrer a siege and bombardment for 1425 days; killing 11541 its citizens, and among them 1601 children.
Mr. Stanivukovic’s team does not include Bosniaks nor Croats. Among 750 city employees there are no other ethnicities but Serbs. Furthermore, in the City Assembly there are no Croats nor Bosniaks.
In the interview to the Mr. Senad Hadzifejzivic, just after he became Banja Luka’s mayer, Mr. Stanivukovic said that he has no intentions to bring back the historical names of the Banja Luka’s city quarters centuries old. Such as: Seher – currently Srpske toplice, Mejdan- Obilicevo, Hiseta Kocicev vijenac etc. A Symbol of the Banja Luka, the hill overlooking the city Sehitluci, currently is called Banj brdo. As you can see all the city’s quarteters names that witnessed hundreds years of Bosniak presence in the Banja Luka, are brutally renamed to demonstrate Srb’s omnypresence and supremacy. An atmosphere in the Banja Luka and in the Entity of Republic of Srpska is described by the two phrases of genicide: “one, destruction of the national pattern of oppressed group; the other, imposition of the national pattern of the oppressors”, Raphael Lemkim , who coined the term genocide.
A young Serb, the Mayor Stanivukovic, did not mentioned to you that Police and Military of the Republic of Srpska had blown away all 16 mosques of Banja Luka, and flattened their’s foundation that nothing would remain to remember Bosniak’s cultural heritage in the city. ( Identical policu of destroing any evidence of Bosniaks presence in the cities of the 19th century Serbia was applied all over the entity of Republic of Srpska”. Exodus of the City of Uzice in todays Serbia is still alive in memories of expelled Bosniaks.) The Croat’s Catholic churches in the Banja Luka were much better “treated” by the Serb police and military; they were “only” heavilly damaged.
Did “younger representative” of the Serb politician, Mr. Stanivukovic, tell you that in his city were brutally killed several hundreds of Croats and Bosniaks by the Srb mobs, police and military, and that nobody ever was brought to the justuce. Among the victims are Catholic’s priests and imam Makic. How eager is the justice system of the entity of the Republic of Srpska to investigate all those murders commited within city borders is investigation of murder of Mr. Murat Badic, who came to Banja Luka from Austria to attend setting up foundation for rebuilding symbol of Banja Luka, the Ferhat Pasha’s mosque, Ferhadija- registered in the UNESCO world’s heritage.
Mr. Badic was stoned to detah by the Srb mob of 4000, who where stoned 300 Bosniaks in front of the Serb police and TV cameras. Despite the facts that the Srb police were present and that stone was video recorded-the killer of Mr. Badic was never identified.Sick!
I will finish this intoduction to the capital of Republic of Srpska-Banja Luka with something that would be helpful to anybody who study “psychology” of genicide. Before the entire population of Croats and Bosniaks were expelled from Banja Luka, they were ordered by the city authorities to bring receipts of payed: water, electricity garbage removal and city tax, (Remember this Mr High Representative) before they “voluntarily” transfered their real estate to the Relublic of Srpska. Only then they were allowed to leave the city. I just described how my parents left Banja Luka. A month ago I layed my father to rest in the Sweden.
I have hope, Mr High Representative, that next time when you visit my pleace of birth, Seher Banja Luku, you will be better informed why Banja Luka make an impression that it is culturaly and ethnicaly entirely the Srb city. Please, never forget that false image was created by the means of genocide, patented by the Serb miltary and police – known as “ethnic cleansing”. The Srb authorities expelled 40000 Croat-Catholics and 40000 Bosniak-muslim from the Banja Luka.
And that is a reason why the young major of Banja Luka looks in “future” ; if he looks back he will not be able to se the “capital” of the Republic of Srpska.
President of the Bosniak Brotherhood of Genocide Survivors.
