SILAJDZIC VISITS LIBYA

TRIPOLI, May 11 (FENA) – BiH Presidency Chair Haris Silajdzic arrived on Sunday to Libya.

Silajdzic was welcomed at the main Tripoli airport with then highest of honours. He was then driven to a meeting with President of Libya Moammar al-Gaddafi, who welcomed him as a great friend of Libya and its people.

Silajdzic thanked Libyan President for help his country and people have provided for BiH.

Silajdzic presented Libyan President to the situation in BiH and in the region. He emphasized that our country is making progress on the way to the EU.

Gaddafi stated that this visit is of extreme importance and added that it is the base for a better cooperation between the two countries.

He emphasized that Libya supports association of BiH to the EU and that it is good for the country to be a member of the EU. According to him, Libya is one of the founders of the Mediterranean Union and is actively participating in the project. He added that he expects support from BiH, for it is also a Mediterranean country.

They also talked about the possibilities of economic cooperation and about potential investments of Libyan entrepreneurs to BiH, as well as about opening of jobs for BiH companies in Libya.

Silajdzic will also meet in Tripoli with the country’s Prime Minister El-Baghdadi el-Mahmudi and with a delegation of Libyan entrepreneurs. Main topic of the meeting will be possibilities of economic cooperation between the two countries.

BiH Presidency announced that Silajdzic will place wreaths on Monday at the memorial of fallen fighters of the El-Hani Battle. He will also place wreaths to the grave of Ebu Minyar el-Quadafi. Silajdzic will visit the residence of leader Moammer el-Gaddafi which was destroyed in US bombing. Silajdzic will visit the Centre for Research of the Green Book and JAFARA – MIMS, the first BiH – Libyan investment in the country.
