MOSTAR, May 11 (FENA) â€“ At the Zitomislic Monastery a donor dinner was held on Saturday night aimed to collect funds for reconstruction of the Mostar Orthodox Churchm, destroyed in 1992. 15 million KM is necessary for the reconstruction.
Member of BiH Presidency Nebojsa Radmanovic, BiH Council of Ministers Chair Nikola spiric, RS Prime Minister Milorad Dodik, Federal Prime Minister Nedzad Brankovic, Federal and RS ministers, as well as Herzegovina-Neretva Canton ministers, as well as other representatives of political, social, cultural and sport life of BiH attended.
BiH Council of Ministers Chair Nikola Spiric, Federal Prime Minister Nedzad Brankovic, RS Prime Minister Milorad Dodik, Herzegovina-Neretva Canton Minister Srecko Boras, Mayor of Mostar Ljubo Beslic and Zahumlje-Herzegovina Bishop Grigorije addressed the press.
BiH Council of Ministers Chair Nikola Spiric stated: â€œThis is a new message, a wonderful message Mostar is sending to BiH today. This is the message that everybody has for the first time gathered together; representatives of all levels of authority in BIH, from state, through entity, municipal and city. This is the message that we can succeed if we rely on one anotherâ€.
He added that the council of Ministers will donate 600.000 KM for reconstruction of the church.
â€Mostar is telling BiH that together we can do things which seemed impossible at a time. Tonight, Mostar is showing to BiH and to the rest of the world that we need little support to build a rich, prosperous and progress-oriented societyâ€, Federal Prime Minister Nedzad Brankovic stated and added that the Federal Government has been helping the reconstruction of the Orthodox Church and that in the following two or three years, about 6 million KM will be provided. That is the same amount of money which will be ensured for the Plehan Monastery. Federal Government will ensure 8 million KM for reconstruction of the Ferhadija Mosque.
RS Prime Minister Milorad Dodik emphasized that the RS Government has placed at the disposal about 700.000 KM for reconstruction of the Orthodox Church and that total of 2 million will be ensured for the purpose.
The Mostar Orthodox Church used to be one of the most beautiful and biggest orthodox churches in the Balkans, built in 1873.
