MEETING: BEVANDA – SLACK

SARAJEVO, May 21 (FENA) – FBiH Minister of Finance Vjekoslav Bevanda talked in separate visits with the director of the World Bank office in BiH, Marco Mantovanelli and resident representative of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in BiH, Graham Slack and his associates.

Discussing the implementation of the World Bank portfolio in BiH it was pointed out that there are currently 15 active projects with total amount of 275 million KM.

The added that there are several credit lines in preparation which will become operative very soon.

Mantovanelli informed Bevanda on regional projects “STRUJA 3”, which will be fully implemented with the support for the development of the study of electric and energy sector in BiH and “STRUJA 4”, as a continuance of the project of solid waste management and reconstruction of the Brcko dock.

WB and IMF representatives expressed their concern with the budget liquidity and gave support to the ministry and FBiH minister in his efforts to secure FBiH budget.

Expressing his concern with the re-balance of the budget being done outside the FBiH Ministry of Finance, Slack stated that he expects explosion of liabilities and that social spending must be reduced.

Bevanda pointed out the importance of the cooperation with WB and IMF and added that the situation in FBiH is extremely difficult and that if the trend of introducing new users is continued, this shall result with even more difficult crisis.
